Edelstahl oder (vergoldetes) Silber - welches Schmuckmaterial passt zu mir? - ALICIA'S DIARY

Stainless steel or (gold-plated) silver - which jewelry material suits me?

Whether pure silver or gold-plated, both sterling silver and stainless steel have their own unique justification - and they truly deserve it, because both metals are simply incredibly uncomplicated and absolutely skin-friendly!

Nevertheless, they differ fundamentally. And those who consciously consider their properties and think about which material better suits their needs will subsequently enjoy their jewelry all the more.

One key difference lies in the appearance : While stainless steel jewelry generally has a clean, modern, and simple design, silver allows for very fine and detailed work, with edges that are always somewhat softer and rounder. The color also quickly reveals to a trained eye whether it's stainless steel or silver: The former has deeper and richer colors, while the latter is more delicate and often lighter.

Jewelry made of stainless steel is generally easier to handle : it's 100% waterproof and can withstand a dip in the sea or swimming pool. Sweat and most personal care products won't harm it either. And even if things get a little rough, you hardly need to worry about scratches! However, if you don't mind taking off your favorite piece before showering or bathing, you can also enjoy fine silver jewelry – knowing that it not only tolerates the occasional trip to the shower or lake, but actually benefits from it! Tarnished pieces can easily be restored to a high shine with a silver polishing cloth.

If you can't decide beforehand, it's best to simply listen to your gut feeling. With a small jewelry collection, you can then choose a suitable favorite piece every day!
