This question reached us a few days ago, and we believe it's not only more than justified but also goes straight to the heart of our jewelry brand Alicia's Diary, as it was a major topic internally for us.
So here's the little story from behind the scenes: We meet for a meeting. Our new intern arrives, wearing an ultra-trendy chunky necklace. Voluminous, curved, and gleaming gold. Immediately, all other topics are forgotten; everything revolves around this jewelry trend, and everyone is talking excitedly at once.
Kati: "It doesn't look bad, at first glance. It really catches the eye."
Stefan: "Looks great in photos, but in real life, it's quite something; it almost overwhelms me a bit..."
Helen: "I can't wear it; it lies too flat, my skin would immediately react to the metal – or is it high-quality gold-plated? Then it must have been really expensive."
Yes, and that's precisely the crux of the matter. I was almost touched, as these were exactly my thoughts – what a great team!!

While one can still argue about the first points: Is the jewelry too prominent, too intrusive, and too heavy, or is it simply confident and a special eye-catcher? However, when it comes to quality and skin-friendliness, there is no room for negotiation for us.
Earrings, necklaces, and arm jewelry in XXL logically require significantly more material. If this is to consist of antibacterial silver and possibly be gold-plated, the price of the jewelry skyrockets. One option is stainless steel, with which the individual links can be made hollow inside. The result is a light yet large and voluminous piece of jewelry. But even here, larger surfaces need to be gold-plated. If this gold plating is real and high-quality, the piece of jewelry is expensive. And mere appearance over substance is not the brand philosophy of Alicia's Diary.
Our jewelry should be light, comfortable, and affordable. And of high quality. Rather small and valuable. Rather a little sparkle than a big fuss. Rather many small jewelry pieces in a layering look and jewelry stacking. This is not only more individual and flexible but also much more exciting!
